Nola
Nakerud – “In
the Field”
Hola!
My name
is Nola
Nackerud
and I
have been
a Peace
Corps
volunteer
for four
years.
I am 55
years
old and
am very
happy
and honored
to be
volunteering
in Nicaragua.
I recently
came to
Phoenix
to see
my best
friend
and complete
some medical
and dental
appointments.
It was
hard to
go to
a new
dentist
in a new
city,
but that
all changed
the minute
that I
walked
into Harris
Dental.
They made
me feel
so welcomed
and cared
for. My
new smile
tells
it all!
As an
environmental
volunteer
in Nicaragua,
I work
in rural
schools
with issues
such as
trash
disposal,
planting
trees,
worm production
and youth
groups.
I am also
working
on library
and park
development
projects
for my
little
community.
I started
working
with deaf
children
three
years
ago and
am continually
learning
Nicaraguan
Sign Language.
In addition,
I conduct
parent
outreach
in rural
areas
about
deafness
and participate
in an
interchange
with deaf
and hearing
students.
I never
thought
I would
be living
in Nicaragua,
but I
am cherishing
each moment
I am there.
I
want to
thank
my “little
dental
family” at
Harris
Dental
from the
bottom
of my
heart.
I am so
grateful
to have
found
them and
so are
my teeth!

Mary
Knopp
A
professional
photographer
for 20 years,
I have photographed
everyone from
the President
of the United
States to
newborn babies.
I travel extensively
to photograph
various events
and have a
particularly
funny memory
of photographing
a group of
cowboys, herding
cattle in
the desert…while
I was riding
a horse!
I
also photograph
families,
children, high school seniors,
expectant mothers, and newborns
in my cozy, in-home studio
or work on
location valley wide. One
of my favorite portrait
assignments is capturing
the beautiful smiles of
happy Harris Dental patients.
Many who never felt comfortable
being photographed before
become eager to show off
their newly confident smiles!
Some of my favorites now
decorate the walls of Harris
Dental.
I
have been
a patient of Joe Harris
for 23 years. The staff
never fails to amaze me
with their knowledge and
expertise. I am always
confident
that my family and I are
receiving the very best
care from a dedicated group
of professionals who care
so very much. I tell everyone
about Harris Dental and
plan to be a part of the
Harris family forever!
Originally from Lansing, Michigan,
I live in Phoenix with my
husband James, sons Jake and
Anson, 2 dogs, and 2 cats.
I take my boys back to Michigan
every summer to visit family
and enjoy the green of the
forests and the blue of the
incredible lakes. I feel so
fortunate to have lived in
such diverse landscapes, from
the splendor of our desert,
to the beauty of the Great
Lakes.
I
continue to
contribute
to a body of fine art photographic
work and hope to have a
gallery showing someday!
